Meow has mentioned in the past that ancients depict seem to depict Felines that dont get enough to eat. And Meow has not seen or is very familiar with Tiger King, but is very familiar with King Tigers or Konigstigers. As those Cats carry the Big guns.
The greatest CRH find Meow ever found was a Silver Canadian Quarter with a Feline on it. Meow also has a dedicated shelf of relatives and heros in the Cat Hoard.
Big cats seem to be quite multifunctional in ancient times. Here is one that can be used for transport. Handy for going to the family during the weekends. Here is one that can be used as headwear. Convenient in winter times. (both shown in this thread, but I like to show them nevertheless )
Several people in this thread -- including me -- have posted the Septimius Severus coin showing Dea Caelestis riding a lion. It's very noticeable that she's riding side-saddle, with both legs hanging down on the right side of the lion. To the extent that there are other Roman coins depicting women (or goddesses) riding animals -- and I assume there must be -- are they all depicted riding side-saddle?
Shoot, I've heard of riding elephants in to battle. But hot dang, if I could ride a lion into battle? I'm having a hard time picturing anything more awesome.
Meow has read that Panthers where quite effective in battle. The Panzer V is considered by many to the the best tank of WWII.

Hi All, Bastet, cat goddess with her mau or miuw (ancient Egyptian word for cat), celebrating her city Bubastis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bubastis). - Broucheion
There's more than one way to skin a cat. (Shhh, don't tell Biscuit or Sweet Pea I said that!) Phil Davis
