Oh Dear God if it was just that easy There was 1 1959 wheat Lincoln found. The Secret Service authenticated it, twice. Numismatic experts were at odds about it, some said it was real others said it was fake. Then a known counterfeiter, Mark Hoffman, made a claim that he had made the coin. The jury is still out.
its amazing how you remember god more and more after reading my posts ah so none exist in my bag no need to go looking for it then well better luck next time
Don't let the Chinese in on this or we'll see an influx of these on the market overnight. :rolling: Ribbit
Your opinion. Too bad that experts in the field have other thoughts. If they don't say it's not real then it's real. Sorry.
My 1959 D The other day I found a cent that caught my eye because of it's bright reddish luster and toning on Abe's coat. I put in a 2x2 because I dont usually find cents from the 50's the oldest i find just by chance are no older than the 60's. Reading this post makes my find even more special. oh yeah no wheats but looks at least bu with lots of red brown.
I'll agree with David on that. There were experts that say it's real and then some that say it isn't. Until someone said they counterfeited it, it was pretty much determined to be authentic so until the supposed counterfeiter can prove he struck it, I'll believe it's authentic. Plus, anytime a counterfeiter counterfeits something, they strike more than one copy so where are the other ones? Ribbit
Not if he is counterfeiting something like this. You fake one piece it is extremely difficult to prove it to be a fake because there is nothing to compare it to. So if it is accepted it will sell for a VERY high price. If he makes 100 or so it would be easier to detect the fake and the prices would be lower. You make multiple copies if it is something that trades on a regular basis, or is a more generic type item. (Most key dates, believe it or not, ARE generic type items.)
