Sounds like you don't like cats either. I have a Pit Bull and she takes care of unwelcome cats.

When I first got back into collecting again.... There was a lot I forgot and a lit I had to learn... I started strong searching bank rolls... Buying off eBay.... Once I got a couple weird coins and better quality coins I started trying to sell before I actually knew what I had and how much value was there.... I put a serious post in this forum and received several proper responses about selling on Etsy and eBay and some things maybe that could help me.... 1 response was basically telling me I was promote my shops and was basically attacking me.... A member I believe has been here for a bit..... I will not name them..... I said a small thing back just stating I don't know why u feel u need to talk to me like that but u can just stop thanked the other members who gave me advice and called it a day. Another guy messaged me about buying currency.... Not from here.... But I told him I would send a couple pics when I got home from work.... I told him I didn't have a bunch but I'll send them..... When I got home I looked at the values of the bills I had and it \aalwasn't enough to turn a profit and didn't want to lead the guy on so I told him I didn't really have a lot and it wasn't worth enough for him so I dint want to give the pics...... He started calling me a scammer.... I didn't understand that I mean I was not trying to scam him I thought by not sending pics if low value stuff.... He said something about my wife because I have my wedding photo on facebook...... I told him if he wants currency he can suck..... Well that I'll leave to your mind but I blocked him and moved on..... My point is the internet is very easy to defuse cause u either block leave the sight your on or shut off your computer..... Cyber bullying is real but only as real as u let it get.... In real life sometimes u can't just leave

I am one of those new ppl with stupid questions. However, I think alot of experienced members look forward to something great and get disappointed and aggravated when seeing what they know isn't even close. I agree to be nice isn't hard but I also think sometimes ppl get too sensitive. If ppl would just realize some ppl are straight forward and think about what is the meaning of what's said instead if trying to get offended which some ppl do, would also make a better atmosphere. I thank you for keeping it decent and respective.

Sometimes it is like picking a doctor for an answer to your problem. Do you pick one that nods his head and says you are probably right, and will probably be OK, or would you pick someone that might be very grumpy, terse, unsympathetic , but say "I am scheduling a stent before you die on me as you are close to it". Do it or die! ?

Some people spend decades on this, and as many, have been almost 6 decades in this hobby, and I learn something new every month and if someone is demanding about something , I don't argue, I just skip over any of their requests. I don't have time to waste if someone doesn't want to hear. I see many reports on some I consider experts, by members that say they are "bad to me" . I check and the problem is usually that the member will not take no for an answer. It would be different if one of the expert got paid for commenting and explaining , but they do this out of their desire to help. Some people don't even say "thanks" or " why", they just start a new thread on the same coin.

I will take a grumpy expert who knows what they are taking about over a "nice" person who tells them to get it slabbed and sell it to a museum, anytime.

    IMO, Jim

Honestly Jim, it's just like the old dealer I have posted about here before. Ben Marlenee was his name, great man. He was an old grumpy dealer who had a frown on his face and people wonder why he was in a sales business. If you went up to him and asked some questions, he would respond gruffly. However, if you came back again and again, asked different questions, showed you actually learned from his previous answers, he was the most knowledgable man in the world. He WANTED to teach others about his hobby, but had spent 50 years putting up with the same old questions where people did not want knowledge.

People here WANT to teach others about our hobby, but we want people to want to learn.

Heh. When this thread popped up in my new-activity list, I had to go back to the beginning to see what started it.

I think it's interesting and instructive that Meow has become a regular contributor here -- because he does post coin-related material, and does learn from discussions, and doesn't try to make trouble outside of the "I'm-really-a-cat" shtick. And CoinTalk as a whole has accepted him as a member, without continuing to make a big deal about the shtick.

If he's really a troll, he's either the most successful one I've encountered, or the least successful one I've encountered. Either way, I'm content that he's stuck around.

I generally have found that fools don't know they're being foolish, with disregard for others, as I/you don't know when we are wrong, until we may have a civil conversation with another. Often we may find through civil discourse that we are, because of age, training, gender, locale, etc., WRONG to others. A civil P.M. sent, often corrects a perceived problem.

I often have great "one on one" discussions with special grand-children that have problems with others, although they may be judged "most correct". I inform them that when civil simple objective discussion doesn't work, try the IGNORE solution until matters may change.

I believe the moderators on this site have done a great tolerant effort to accept adverse semi-hostile communications, and it is our duty to show support, rather than maybe snide comments.

I have to admit that I have at times poked at the cat ( @MeowtheKitty ) but never maliciously or with ill intent and haven't gotten scratched yet (maybe a few hisses) :) and I have to admit that I enjoy the cat posts. The newbies who want to come on here and get abusive when they get real advice...eh...no great loss.

Should I start barking like a dog?

I don't see why anyone would want to be rude and irritating or why anyone would think they belong here or any site. I agree ppl should and can be respectful of others but my daddy said to respect myself first. So I feel that if ppl are being rude...they should leave and if they don't leave peacefully then they go how they made it. They shouldn't dish it out if they can't take it! Like, don't go away mad, just go away. Some ppl want to learn and ppl want to enjoy this site when sharing. Not hack up a furball.
