If someone could examine this penny and tell me what’s going on I’d appreciate it. Also if someone could explain the difference that would be helpful. My research is slow going @paddyman98 but I’m on it.
Could be a combination of a worn die strike which would cause the debris (compacted grease) filled die. And a bit of a hit during circulation. It's tough when you are first learning about the so many different ways these issues occur. I have 36 years experience and still learning!
I will definitely be reading through the links you sent. I’m at about 2 months now and I looked through all the coins my grandfather gave me already so I’m starting my own collection since I just plan on tucking those away forever anyways. The only thing is his collection was mainly world coins and this is very different so I’m learning a lot. If you have a link that shows a good amount of penny varieties I could use that. I can only remember the close and wide am years.
