To finishing my Lincoln Cent Set, this beauty is on it's way to me:

It's coming along, I'm glad (and lucky, lol) to get this coin, as I'm trying to get the best strikes that I can. I'm trying to knock the twenties S mints out of the way, (and the known D mints that usually have weak strikes like the 25-D, 26-D, etc.), then when I get examples of each with real nice strikes, I'll probably jump back to the teens, and get the semi-keys out of the way.

Then, after that, I'll save up to get the S VDB, 14-D, and the 31-S. Those will be last, with the S VDB to end my set. Just thought I'd show y'all the new guy, and tell you how I think I'm going to do it. What are all of your opinions? All comments are welcome, thanks for reading. :)

Congradulations. Getting closer and closer. Then you have to start a second set you know.
I really don't remember finishing sets anymore. Some were finished well over 50 years ago but still growing. That has always been the trouble with Lincoln Cents since so far you never finish untill they stop making them.

Very nice. The pic is a little dark for me to see all of the little nicks etc, but it looks to me like a 53/55.

I hope you dug your heels in and made sure you took the seller to the cleaners. That guy has been know to overcharge.

Very nice 26S. It took me 20 years in order for me to really get enough disposable cash together in order for me to justify my 09S VDB and then completing the set. But now every time I look at it, it a big sigh of relief to know its done.

    Congrats, keep going.

How does it feel to be near the end of a collection?

What happens when a collection ends? I've never completed one.

Lol, thanks! Niether can I in a way, but I'm enjoying the hunt. What'll be next? I might do a set of MS-65/66 Lincoln's 32-58, or do a set of Romans? Not certain yet, lol. :D Thanks for the input!

    Thanks Mark!

It's still has a little way to go, but most of the tougher coins are out of the way (minus the keys of course. ;)) Thanks for the comment!

Haha, once your into Lincoln's seriously, you don't stray fully away from them IMO. Even after the set is done, I'll still probably look for upgrades for some, or just pick up a nice one to have. Thanks for your input!

Thanks Rlm, I appreciate your comment. It is a nice coin from what I can tell from the pics. Should hopefully get here tomorrow, or Thursday at the latest. :) haha, I feel I got this one for a great price, as being it's hard to find a nice, problem free, attractive, sharply struck example for this date and mint. Thanks for your input!

    Thank you Harry!

Thanks man, I appreciate the comment. :)

    Thanks Clinker!

Feels better than when you start one, LOL. :D I have about 8 or 9 "tougher" ones to get (what I consider tough is either a semi-key, 10-S (I don't really consider this one a toughie) 12-S, 13-S, and the 15-S, those are what I need to finish off the semi-keys, and then the weakly struck dates, 20-S, 20-D sort of the 21-S, 26-D, and the 28-S, I want as strong as a strike as I can get, and they need to be totally problem free. I'm picky, I know, lol.) After those, it'll be just picking up the common and sort of common dates. Thanks for the comment!

Congrats Phoenix!!! It's good to see another Lincoln set near completion. I am now only four away from completing my Lincolns 12-s, 13-s, 14-s and 15-s. I got most all of the key dates out of the way at the beginning and just picked up the rest along the way. I enjoy my sets more when all of the holes are filled...lol..obviously.

I have news for you guys. No matter the set, even when completed, you'll always find ways to fine tune it. Be it strike matching, color matching, toning, etc etc, in ANY series, there is always that opportunity to just tweak the set up a notch.

Thats another added bonus to our great hobby, it never ends.

Congrats Tyler, glad to see that go to a good home. I promise, the coin is far better in hand also. You're going to be jazzed !!;)

Thanks indianhead! It's getting there, like I said. Best of luck with finishing your set. :thumb: There is a nice 15-S in XF on the site that I posted a yesterday, and a 12-S in XF and AU on Jack's site if you're looking for them now. Best of luck with your set! :thumb:

I've had a feeling there that even after I'm done with this set, I'll still be updating it. Man, you got me jazzed already, I'll be looking forward to it! :thumb:
Thanks Mr. Anthony Wabbit Rat! :D :thumb: ;)
