Are these real?

    They do exist. Whatever the ones in question are real or not, that's anotehr question.

    Those are probably the best known of the ghetto tokens, but I have strong doubts about their authenticity.

    There were no collectors in the ghettos putting aside BU specimens, and the tokens weren't readily available for collectors outside the barbed wire.

    If any of the bidders are knowledgeable about them, the price indicates that they share my skepticism. A couple of years ago I bid considerably higher than those are going for at an auction by Early American History Auctions, while trying to buy a set for donation to the Museum of Tolerance in Los Angeles. Those tokens were Extra Fine at best, but when it was all over, I wasn't even second bidder!

    It isn't possible to really judge the condition of the coins from that photo. If they are real someone got a real deal on them. The sale price would be reasonable for the 5 mark coin by itself (the most common of the Lodz getto coins)

    Beware of any Litzmannstadt coins offered in ebay auctions. Probably mostly counterfeit money/bogus money.
