    No. That is a Damaged 9 due to circulation.

    Damage on the 9 of the Washington Quarter. The other is a picture of a pre 1965 Jefferson Nickel RPM.

    How did the D get punched on the 9?
    If it was an accident the die would not have been used.

    No, it’s not a misplaced mint mark. You need to post full clear obverse and reverse pictures and pictures of the area in question to get the best opinions. Don’t mix a different denomination picture in as reference. Just trying to help.

    The 9 has simply been damaged, hit by something. You can see similar damage on the other numbers in the date.
