I have had these in a drawer for sometime, and just now rediscovered them I just took a quick glance and put them away, I went down and got some frames and after taking a closer look at each individual picture, one just does not add up and not correct at all, not even close ! but someone was for sure asleep at the switch when they were printed don't get me wrong there gorgeous but again one doesn't measure up, since there are not allot of people out there that collect MPC it will be a difficult proposition, but if you do answer correctly I will send you a Military Payment certificate from my collection VF or better. Here are the pics good luck, will leave it up for seven days, or until someone gets it right, correct answers must be complete and detailed PLEASE !
No denomination, i.e. cents, dollars, etc., on the Navy certificate? I'm obviously not a collector of these and have no clue so that's the only different I can see.
Here's a hint, as it could be just about anything...LOL, one note has nothing to do with anything in the picture, and remember there are two that have the Navy seal one represents the marine corps and represents the navy itself.
I will narrow it down, the problem is with the one honoring the Navy itself not the Navy/marine corps one, lets see if that helps ?
Personally speaking, I wish they would have used this image on the souvenir card for the United States Navy. They used a Tank for the Army, and a Jet Bomber for the Air Force...why not a Submarine for the Navy ?
I thought b/c they have an eagle for the image, but one is on their seal. But their mascot was originally a monkey, (really a gorilla), and then Bill the Goat.
I’m not certain what the hump is, but I’ve been told that the submarine depicted on the note is the USS Thomas Edison nuclear attack submarine. Commissioned in 1962 and decommissioned 1983.
The hump is actually an exaggerated look at the rear of the submarine where steering and propulsion take place, it seems to be in a larger scale then the rest of the image.
I do not like the way they used only the reverse images on the cards, and Thats another clue to the issue at hand, here's a picture and brief explanation from original art work used on the Series 681 all fractionals are exactly the same except for the color and denomination.
