Saturday Night Free For All

I recently received this ancient Deer/Dog intaglio to go with a few others that I have. I like these a lot but they're kinda like other antiquities outside of coins... it's hard to determine age or origin.

I don't really have any resources on these... so if anyone knows where to look for info, let me know!

It's Saturday night and a free for all!

I've rephotographed this coin and have been looking for it in a variety of references, modern and antiquarian. It's well-attested.

Bizya was a city in Thrace, now the city of Vize in the Marmara region of Turkey. It is home to the only open air amphitheater in Thrace, built in the second century AD.

Another new coin... I like coins of Crispus. He's an interesting historical figure. I think a HBO drama based on his life would be fun to watch.


Due to being unable to read the mint mark… I’m not sure if this is RIC 347 (STR dot) or RIC 372 (dot STR dot). Both coins are nearly identical except for the extra dot which cannot be seen.

Again... this coin joins many other Crispus coins already in the books...

@Curtisimo Is that one of the 'Unmarked Series 1' coins formerly thought to be from London, but now considered to be 'invasion money' for the retaking of Britannia from Allectus?

I get a bit bored photographing coins straight on anymore and don't spend much time on them... but lately I've had a lot of fun shooting coins in natural light from other angles and with other coins. This is just an iPhone photo... turned out pretty nice.

Oooh I love that Titus portrait. Very realistic! Somehow I have nearly 1500 coins and not yet a single Titus coin. I'll have to change that!

 

Oh Thank you - I am extremely happy with it. Yes - I looked for over a year for a Titus coin... but with such a short reign - you know that you will need to compromise on something to get an affordable coin.
I made compromises I did not expect (half the reverse, legends, etc) - but that portrait had me.

 

I have a Titus that looks much worse stylistically, has that typical Old-man Vespasian look. I’ll try to post a pic tmrw
