Are there any other guesses? I’ll give it another couple of hours just in case.

I low-balled my guess on this coin. I have not developed the skills and knowledge needed to grade copper struck after the reign of George IV accurately. I learned this lesson when I submitted a group of Victorian pieces last year, which by far exceeded my expectations. I suppose, in this case, being more conservative is better than being too liberal and getting a negative surprise from the TPGs.

@Kentucky, you should pick one up! I like the look of these little “hockey pucks”. It is my opinion that these pieces are underrated and often sell for very reasonable prices.

@physics-fan3.14 you and I came up with the same grade and designation. I think it would have been a premium coin in a 64 holder, but I am not surprised by how NGC graded it. I got the grade and color designation incorrect on this one.

Hard to decide. Reverse die pretty tired.
    Wild guess...AU55.

I have a set of Maundy money from 1902 and they are matte proofs graded by NGC. I wonder if that's matte too.

This is a good thought, but these are brilliant proofs. These sets originally came in a small cardboard box with a thin piece of tissue paper. The materials used, combined with inadequate storage conditions, often lead to discoloration. My images likely didn’t help correct the misconception either.

63 for me. Worn reverse die doesn’t drop this down to AU. Reverse is pretty sharp with plenty of apparent luster.

Alright, we had a good turnout for this one, and most of you were pretty close! This coin gave me some trouble, mostly because the reverse was so worn. I went back and forth between a 62 and 63 for weeks, but I marked it as a 63 in my spreadsheet before sending it off.

Up next is an 1805 Ireland proof 1/2 Penny.

This coin was marked for conservation, and I agreed, so I have no idea how this coin looks in hand now. To make this easier (or maybe it will make it harder), I included the seller's pictures as well as the cropped images from the NGC cert verification. Unforutently, I do not have any photographs of this coin that I took.
