I DO, I DO, I DO. I NEVER THOUGHT I'D SAY THOSE WORDS AGAIN. Now what about dates and proof set prices? You can tell me where to go. OH, I stepped into that one. zg
Hey, I like em all. Anything is better than the old memorial. It's so solenm. Besides they'll create so much interest that 12 billion cents won't be enough. I'm sure everyone on CT will get one or more coins, regardless of whether they like them or not. Don't forget that change is one of the true contants in this world. remember: Common cents beats intelligence any day!
I'm with Zeke, I like them all. Change is a good thing. Still, would have liked it if they had done a VDB....
personally i think all 4 are rather ugly n if i really have to pick one it be the 4th as the other 3 look rather goofy to me. the first is a mud hut not really very sporting for one of the worlds strongest countries the second looks rather odd with his crazy hair n the giant wooden mallet just seems off the third looks like bill nye the science guy to me more then anything else standing out front the forth is decent only because it has a strong image of a beautifully designed building in the making and could be a great symbol for the rebuilding of the US economy at this point in time
I actually like them, but I do think that's an awful lot of detail to try to put on a small coin. I do believe there will be problems, along with quite a few weakly struck coins. Just my prediction. Phoenix
Am I the only person who thinks the quality of the art in these designs is more suited for a tourist pamphlet at a rest stop? Modern coinage is a joke as far as artistic quality is concerned. Only a very few state quarters really pop. IMO these new penny designs look like they were drawn up for a children's book or a tourist pamphlet. But hey our government has all kinds of high standards so I guess we got what we expected.
I will add another twist to this discussion. I would like to see the old Lincoln and higher relief. If no where else, just the proofs, please. The original coin (1909 - 1919 ish) had so much more detail and was/is one of the best and most recognized designs ever. They have now flattened the design so mu that they had to move the VDB onto the shoulder from the edge. And then there are those noodles on his face.
