I got this recently and was curious why the hue of the eyebrow area and the below the E in CENT is this color and wanted to know if anyone else has come across this. Is it natural or someone's color experiment.
yes I deal with a lot of world copper but never seen like it before just in 1 spot. usually if colored many areas will be unnatural from what i've seen.
The coin also has an unusual patina like it has been in the ground, so maybe that would account for the spots. Laying in the ground and the mineral content of just a small area affected the coin? Just a thought.
I wonder if the red areas appeared later after some debris was removed? I mean it could have been 75 years ago. There is also a touch of it under the T in Cent. Other areas on the reverse. On the leaves. Between the F and A. On the T in UNITED.
