1964? Issue. Spanish 25 ptas franco coin. I've seen a few conflicting sources for value Information with these coins. Mine here has 64 star which I've been told makes it from 1964, the coin design being created in1957 but used consecutively each year to follow. But there is certainly more to how the stars work. It has me unable to judge what if any value it could have. Then another source says this coin has silver content and with a 64 it is valued $80 and up in graded mint state condition. But no other site makes that claim and I'm positive it isnt silver. I guy offered me $20for it. What sold him was the dictator on the obverse, he thought he could justify $20 because a coin with a murderous dictator on it in his lame opinion will be worth tossing a twenty out for . Not sure I can share that opinion or practice. I didnt sell ti that fellow though 20200326_060416.jpg 20200326_060427.jpg 20200326_060531.jpg 20200326_060615.jpg 20200326_060114.jpg

That was weird.. You should of taken the money and ran with it!.

    No silver content.

Those Pesetas are common. I have several in my collection. Nearly all coins during Francos reign depict him.

Ya, I've had all different denominations of them. Never thought much, it seems there are like 10 or more varieties of that 1957 with the star and a range of possibilities for numbers and some letters which can be found I the star but only one type has any value and it nothing to high, then people all seem to thi k the one they have is the one that's valuable , I'm gonna trust what mgc says here, a 71 in star at ms63 is given a $120 value, a 64 star at ms 63 $40. That seems high though, right? So many of these coins. Heres a screenshot

These coins in MS are hard to find. Your coin is not MS.

numista has it as copper nickel and with a 64 in the star there were 42.2 million minted. graded XF has a value of around 90c. The only ones worth a bit more have BA in the star, struck in 1958 to commemorate the numismatic exhibition in Barcelona

I got a 50 ptas version for $2.50. I don't really like it that much to be honest

High mintage Cu-Ni coin with a fair amount of wear. If somebody offers $20, jump on it.

I know a lot of Spaniards that think Franco was a hero, who saved Spain from Communist tyranny under the "Republicans" When Franco was on the verge of winning the Civil War, the Republicans sent the Spanish gold reserves to Moscow for safe keeping. Stalin never returned that. During the Republican regimes rule, Stalin sent in Soviet military/ NKVD agents/ advisors to make Spain a Soviet puppet state.
So, Franco saved Spain from that nightmare.
