Can any of you guess the grade? This is a tough note to find out there and I had to get what I could get when the gettin was good!! LOL Would be interested in hearing your thoughts! Click the image to enlarge and then click it a second time for the final enlargement! RickieB
Nice note. I want to say an AU, slight crease from a possible fold down the middle......but I am still learning grading on notes. Smaugy
for myself, i would think it would be in a PCGS slab first of all this is a RickieB note after all for a grade, i am going to go with a New61..... there does 'look' to be slight folds in the center, but they are more of a pinch then a fold, as it doesnt 'look' to go outside the portrait. There looks to be a smudge of some sort below the lower serial, and the upper left corner 'looks' to have a small fray of some sort. nice note
I won't spoil RickieB's fun with the inside knowledge I have of the grade, but I will offer that he got it at a very nice and attractive price for the grade on the TPG holder:secret: Oh, and BTW the holder does not recognise that this is a scarcer variety of the note, with the lighter seal.
I think photos of notes are harder than photos of coins. Slight folds are very hard to identify especially when they are already in a plastic sleeve. It does look like a couple things are going on in the center area along with some slight smudges on the reverse. With SM's comments it makes me even more nervous to hazard a guess - not that I have much experience to begin with. Two corners look a tiny bit worn but the note over all for it's age is really-really nice. I'm always over critical and like I said, pictures of note make it even tougher. Will anxiously await the grade!
Hummmm Scottish just may be on to something here...LOL Thanks SM.. Daggar, I agree with what you called but the TPG saw it a tiny bit different...LOL Thanks for stopping by guy's RickieB
I'm not that great at grading paper currency...well, I'm awful actually so I might be way off. But, I'd say that note has been slightly circulated. It looks like it mas a minor fold down the center and maybe the edges show a touch of wear. So, I'm going to say it's an AUish note.
Okay - The areas marked in red I would want to see in person to feel better about a grade. No doubt this would have been listed on the bay as CHCU :rolling: It's a great note but I think Spock is in the right ball park +/- 1.
Ok...great assessments everyone!! You guy's are doing your homework!! Hats off to you.. SM is hacking into my online activities...LOL (not really) he is quite the Scottsman!! The note Graded Au50 Ithink it should be at least a 53... When holding it and looking close, it is some what better than the pics project. None the less, it is a difficult find and I am a happy man.... RickieB
Spock my friend...you are partly correct... Just the apperance of this to the market caught my attention...the note is not in the grade I hoped for, but meet the minimum grade for the collection... Geee's I am way too picky sometimes..LOL Point#2... at the price in which I got this...I could not let it go.... The Big Paper Show in Calif recently had so many nice notes that this one slipped under the radar so to speak. RickieB
