Here for your viewing pleasure is an 1892 Barber Quarter. Once I have your thoughts I will share my own. I moved the light source on the obv for a couple different angles.
Nice coin. But it's been cleaned. Also, maybe just the light, but looks like something funny going on in the spaces between letters on the reverse. Guy~
I,d of given it an EF-40 if it wasn't cleaned as it is I'll go with Doug at VF-35 ,still a nice Barber . rzage
I would grade the coin extra fine but it does look like it's been cleaned. So I'll say VF 35. Very nice coin. Lou
Shield doesn't have any evidence of wear.....VF? I don't know much about Barbers but this would seem to me to be a high point.
Huh, my pictures must be lacking. There is much more detail my pics must have missed. The coin in question is actually a MS-60 coin that has been cleaned with a polish cream then retoned. If you look carefully you can see some of the polish dried polish cream residing in the letters on the reverse and around the stars on the obverse. Note the fine detail on the tail feathers and the eagle's head as well as the lack of wear on the hair and wreath on the obverse. Overall with the cleaning I would call it an AU-55.
The images I see look like the ones in "Making the Grade" labelled EF-45. Maybe it's your photos? I do see the cleaning cream residue, though.
I see significant remaining luster but agree that it has been cleaned. AU details with a net grade of XF45.
