Seems the COVID-19 epidemic had no effect on auction records being smashed. Pogue Part VII realized 15.6M! Total for his Collection $122M
The Pogue sales have been beyond my financial means since the beginning. Nothing has changed. ... Especially after last week’s stock market.
Mr. Pogue built a beautifull highest quality collection of US coinage. I would have done the same had I had his $$$$$$. This Tyrant collection is way more $$$$$$.
I really like this 1795 Eagle: https://www.pcgs.com/cert/31529825 ...but for obvious reasons I’ll keep collecting circulated Bust halves ;-)
Brought huge money. I’d hoped to be able to get a couple things but the prices were beyond me even though I’ll pay strong
The press release says Part VI. The fifth sale was 3 years ago. Or were you just kidding with your question?
By no means is it a knock on the Pogues at all as they had an all time great collection but it really might not even be close.
You are correct/ Pogue had a magnificent collection of US coinage. The Tyrant coll. is world/USA 670BC to present/ gold/silver all high quality. Its probably worth over 1 Billion and counting....
That was my minimum guess too just seeing some of the ads for sets he has displayed in the past. Hasn't been very public in acquisitions which almost certainly makes building at least some of it much easier, but every time there's been a display it's been insanely nice in all areas.
