I just picked up 3 1962-P Franklin Half Bank Rolls. I'm very interested to get a look at all the coins, but wonder whether I should open the rolls or not. Is there some other value that collectors place on unopened bank rolls? I'd really like to open them up, but don't want to be sorry later. What should I do?
open the one that has the worst condition wrapper. Will give u a feel for what is in the other. If u do it carefully you can reroll it. JMO
My impression is that most buyers of 'unopened' bank rolls pretty much assume that they have been looked through previously. Unless you really want to leave them in the paper, I would look through them and enjoy them, then place them in a screw cap acrylic tube, which would provide better protection in the long term, I believe.
It's unlikely to find an unsearched roll. Think about it. Someone had to look at them to put all 1962's in there, right?
"It's unlikely to find an unsearched roll. Think about it. Someone had to look at them to put all 1962's in there, right? " not if its a roll from the bank in 1962. My mother -in-lay picked up rolls of varying denominations over the years and never openen up (I did!) Richard
You probably can tell if they've ever been opened , they'd have that nice tight seal , but that's just opinion not fact . I'd do what the Noost said open the one that looks the worst to see if there are any 65s in there . rzage
I opened one roll so far. There are some very nice coins. Some FBLs and all the coins look great. I'll try to get some pictures
