Nice field, no damage there. Moderately weak strike with loss of detail in E PLURIBUS and 8 of date. Toning (to me) detracts from overall look. No apparent sign of wear. Hits on N and T of CENT. Hit on I, and maybe C, of AMERICA. Rim ding above first T of TRUST. Small rim hits at 9:00 and 10:00 on obverse. Small scratch on Lincoln's upper collar. Apparent small spots above T of CENT and between Y and collar.

I grade it MS-64; some services may go MS-65 tops.

 

I'm horrible at grading but I'll take a stab...AU50....E Pluribus looks slightly worn (or is that a weal strike?). Dings in the letters on the reverse.

Also, looks like some rim damage on obverse at 1:00

EDIT PS: Green18, E Pluribus is a problem strike in this series...it's pretty common, even on the high gem examples. There's an MS-66 on Heritage right now, if you want to check that out. Just affects the first half it. Seems like either a problem strike, or the dies were polished a little hard up there.

 

Toning is a fact of life and at some point must be accepted otherwise some or all of our collections might have to be replaced. I don't mind the toning on this coin at all. What's the final grade Eddie?

 

Oh shoot, I'm very sorry, I didn't mean to mislead! It's a raw job.

I was looking at some of the slabbed ones over the past several months on Heritage, and wherever else I could find them, and the "milk spots" are distracting, for one, and, I'm not very good with the overall appearance of any of those, either, to tell you the truth. You've seen one, you've seen 'em all. They all have hits and the same uneven, or spotty, luster, which is also kind of unappealing, to me. E Pluribus, though, is the same on all of these...and, personally, I grade this is a 65+, when rated against that cross-section, I've seen. What I wanted to know was how you guys rated the toning (at least, from what I could capture of it...the deep blue captured a little flat, I have to admit), but, also, specifically, what problems and/or problem areas you saw on the coin.

I'm good with your grades, though, don't think I'm being critical of those. You guys are better at that than me, anyway (I admit, I'm not that good on Lincolns). Thanks, again...everyone!

 

OK, eddiespin and I graded it MS; everyone else with an opinion says AU. I don't see wear - can someone point out where it is?

 

The nicks on the lettering on the reverse and the rim shot on the front caused me to give the coin an AU rating.
