Couldn't be because if you look at some devices you'll notice that they would not of changed. Or line up. One example the eye lids...Compare B to A the lids on A look full the ones on B thin.... again strike coin B full strike, coin A typical , so if your eye goes to detail you pick B for luster more so A.
The purpose of this thread was two fold.....first to show that grading is Subjective, and we buy with our eyes as to what we like. Both specimens are sweet nicely toned coins, coin B did have a better strike but color muted the underling luster that in the photo didn't show. Coin A is in my eye was under graded but at a time peroid that was market acceptable,. It was flooded with 2 lights to enhance the luster and color. The coin in my eyes is a solid 64 with a slight bump for color. The main reason I've been posting threads as such.....I believe it helps us all! Not only become better at our hobby, but better as humans! My thoughts if we keep busy in a constructive way the news headlines wouldnt go away but perhasp we get a break away from our troubles ,and enjoy something we all love collecting coins. You know it truly was a pleasure to read response that were well thought out, and most of all no one got their panties in a knot and started WW lll. These are trying times for all of us.... we all need to find within ourselves the courage to be more kinder, more understanding, and most of all realize we all will be dealing with a loss by family or by degrees of separation of family or friends. This forum has always been ,and will always be a supportive to its members,as well its guest. That truly sez alot about the membership here....... true we don't ways agree....but we do care.....the one virtue no one ,or world situation can take away. Stay informed , pratice safe measures, and mostly love one another! God Bless you all Paddy
Well, being stuck in town over the weekend, I missed the initial post and you have already revealed the TPG grades, but I think coin A was robbed, but the lighting may have fooled me. Now, if a bunch of us chipped in to cover you breaking both of them out and sending them in again and see what happens, that would be great.
I chose coin A as the higher grade, but I prefer coin B, because, as @Paddy54 said, I buy with my eyes. Even in the old slab, I find it hard to believe anyone thought that coin A was an MS-61. Had you shown me an ANA slab, I might have believed it, but I think somebody got robbed at MS-61, and I bet @Paddy54 got a good deal because of that number. I agree that grading is a bit subjective; experienced people can easily differ +- 1 in MS grades, and, often the choice between two grades in the circulated grades is debatable. But, what you've shown here isn't that. You've got a coin that was undergraded years ago, IMO, and undergraded to a tougher prevailing standard. I would have not been surprised to see that coin at MS-62 or MS-63 in the ANACS slab. A better way to show how grading is subjective would be to get two coins of the same date, graded by the same company, in the same slab generation side by side. I kind of doubt you could find a pair like that that are 5 grades apart! Either way, I don't blame you for buying and liking both.
The problem is I like the old slabs. Anancs soap bar and a NGC fatty. Don't know if I would break them out
I always look at a show for old slabs and what's in them..... One never knows what treasures can be found. And yes at a bargan price.
