Lord have mercy! This tasty bit of jazzy funk was released just today and I just can't get enough of TOP!

"Tower of Power" reminds me of this denarius of Antoninus Pius!

    Antoninus Pius, AD 138-161.
    Roman AR denarius, 3.26g, 17.2 mm, 5 h.
    Rome, AD 161.
Obv: DIVVS ANTONINVS, head of Antoninus Pius, bare, right, with drapery on left shoulder.
Rev: CONSECRATIO, pyre of four tiers decorated with garlands and statues and surmounted by a quadriga.
    Refs: RIC 438; BMCRE 60-64; RSC 164a; RCV 5193; MIR 24.
Notes: Also struck with a right-facing bare head (no drapery) portrait.

"Look in my eyes" reminds me of the bug-eyes on the Alexandrian coinage of Julia Domna:

    Julia Domna, AD 193-217.
    Roman AR denarius, 2.53 g, 19.2 mm, 6 h.
    Alexandria, AD 193-198.
Obv: IVLIA AVGVSTA, bare-headed and draped bust, right.
Rev: Venus standing left, holding apple in right hand and drawing out fold of drapery with left hand.
    Refs: Bickford-Smith pl. 1, 10; RIC --; BMCRE --; RCV --; CRE 398.

Post your coins with towers, eyes you can't help but look into, and ... if you like ... some funky jazz/jazzy funk!

Nice! I saw Tower Of Power years ago when they opened for BB King. Great performance during an excellent show (Kenny Wayne Shepard was the co).
Anyway, here’s some creepy peepers and some classic rock with a funky jazzy hook

Here's one of my favorite jazz songs-- a groovy version of the theme from 2001: A Space Odyssey by Brazilian artist Deodato:

Oh, man, remember that song so well, @Ryro . Great choice.

Nice song, @TIF , very cool.

I don't post this guy too much. VERY low silver content. Probably due to Rome suffering MASSIVE troop losses after Hannibal destroyed them at Trasimene, Trebbia, Cannae, etc. Severe loss of funds, loss of garnering taxes, loss of Allies, etc. really put Rome into a tailspin. They survived the nadir, and NEVER considered surrender... just pushed on after massive Legionary deaths, massive drain on the treasury, etc...

Great post. How's about a couple of bug-eyed Byzantine royalty? Justin II and wife Sophia, looking like grasshoppers on a follis from Nicomedia:
