I have looked in several different references, but haven't found this variety. It is not in Cherrypickers guide and the closest description is a large date over small date. This one is a small over large date...HELP:rolling:
I have a pretty reputable dealer who gives me first dibs on good nickel errors, and he sold it to be 2 minutes after he got done buying it from a customer. The date logotypes match the small and large dates of the year, so I felt pretty confident it is genuine...
I'll have to agree with nicknack. Looks like die deterioration but I do not know much about the shield series either. Why don't you post this in the error section and see what Mike Diamond says about it?
