So far this year I have singularly failed in my resolution to focus on my collecting areas. I seem to have lost all focus and am wandering into lots of areas that I have not looked at in my collecting thus far.

My new batch is a set of six rough, mistreated, low grade silver.

This is what I consider the best of the batch.

    Antoninianus
Obv:- IMP CAES M CLOD PVPIENVS AVG Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right
Rev:- AMOR MVTVVS AVGG, clasped hands
    Minted in Rome. 238 A.D.
    References:- Cohen 2. RIC 9a

    4.09 g. 22.17 mm. 180 degrees

    Rough, porous, mistreated.

I did manage to avoid any lack of TP related jokes which I must admit was my instinct for this coin given the emperor.

Interesting reverse legend that I was unaware of.

Considering the reverse, I hope Poopienus didn't miss out on the TP run.

Congrats on the find, Martin! Tougher Emperor to capture. Nice.

I think it's a thorough hand washing on the reverse.

No, & trust me on this, what you are doing is totally normal as far as you know.;) People think they focus on one thing, but they really don't, because if they did, they would lose their sanity & mental capacity to function as...oh, wait a minute...ah, forget everything I just said. Keep doing what you're doing...:D;)

Oh yes! So maybe the coin's had its share of tough times, but ol' Pupi's good to have, regardless! I love those short reigns.

    Nice pickup!

(And a tip o' the hat for resisting the urge to make TP jokes. It would have been very difficult for me as well.)

Sounds like a fun lot, @maridvnvm ! Here's a group lot I'm waiting for in the mail. How long I'll have to wait given the coronavirus is anyone's guess. The reverses are a mystery and I'll have fun working through this one.

That must have been quite a lot! I don't recall ever seeing a Pupienus ant in a bulk lot, as even in that condition your coin is still easily worth $200+

I, too have largely failed to resist the temptation of lots. I'm still waiting on this one to arrive from Leu - it wasn't cheap but looks promising, assuming it arrives from overseas.
