Greetings everyone. Please pardon the error if this is in the wrong thread, I wasn't certain where to post to. I was given a coin by my father to inquire as to what it is, so I thought I'd start here to see if anyone can help with this question. The coin is attached, is is dated 1626. Thanks for your knowledge
Its a silver medal from Saxony (Sachsen-Kurlinie)(Albertiner) depicting Johann George I. 1611-1656 elector of Saxony. possibly minted in 1626? (R.N. Kitzkatz). To the right riding cure prince with armor and sword, under the horse coat of arms ring of 18 Wappenschilden (coat of arms), in the center Kurlinie-Saxonian helmet. Someone else might be able to provide you more info. I couldnt find one with this obverse, only one like this with him on horseback with crown and coat: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_George_I,_Elector_of_Saxony
Thanks for the information, this was extremely informative. The coin looks very much like the one Drusus posted. I used a scanner to capture it, hence the peculiar light.
