I received two of these ae drachms in a recent lot... They are attributed to Soter Megas, or Vima Takto. Are they the same as this coin? The auction write up says, "A historically important coin...This rare type finally settled the identity of Soter Megas (Great Saviour). His name Vima Takha is clearly visible from 4 o'clock to 2 o'clock on the reverse." Is this true? Did these coins settle the identity of Soter Megas? Vima Takto (also known as 'Soter Megas'). Ca. Maybe another ruler to look into is Kujula Kadphises.... But I'm out of my comfort zone here.....BTW nice coin...
The heavy weight specimen with this design (more than 9 grams) are attributed to Kadphises. The light weight specimen are vima takto. In the coin you link to, the beginning of the legend "MaHaRa.." begins with the lying crescent above the head of the camel, thats "Ma". Kharosti reads from right to left. The characters in front of the head of the camel spell the name.
