I am a rank beginner who plans on attending my first coin show in Franklin Tennessee this Saturday 9-20-08. It is descibed online as having 40 tables & this show sets up at a local motel approximately once a month. Does anybody know anything about this particular show?? What can I expect?? Is it any good?? I hope to get a few common date circulated Indian head cents, a buffalo nickel, maybe a Morgan or Walking Lib, some 2x2s, and 3-ring binder holding sheets. I am assuming this shopping list would be available at even the smallest of coin shows. Thanks, Bill BTW, NICE forum here!!!
WELCOME, Curio ! Hope you enjoy yourself. I've never been to that coin show, but we have similar shows (40 - 60 tables) several times a year. I'm sure you won't have too much problem filling that shopping list, even at a small show. Ask lots of questions ! Talk to lots of people ! ENJOY yourself ! Doesn't cost anything to windowshop... Above all, look at LOTS of coins. That's indespensible if you want to learn to grade. Post up after the show and tell us about your experience ! Good luck, Ricky
The nice thing about a coin show that is monthly is you can usually get to know many of the regular dealers. Take your time and talk to them. If you don't see or can't find what your looking for, mention it to a few of the freindlier dealers. You may find they will look for items for you and at usually a decent price in order to make a steady customer.
