So as you all know, the Baltimore Whitman Show was cancelled for this weekend (Thanks, Coronavirus). FFIVN and I are both pretty bummed since we had planned on going and digging through the Harland J. Berk "junk box" as well as checking out all the rest of the dealers to see what we may want to add to our collection.

As a way to ease the pain a bit, I ordered a coin from vcoins (for the first time ever!) on Sunday And we also were lucky to win one on the recent @John Anthony auction.

While these 2 coins will not make up for the lost excitement of being at the coin show, they are a great consolation and are both welcome additions to FFIVN and my collection.

I really like the colorful mineral deposits on the SS bronze. If it's any consolation, the last few times I went to Baltimore, Harlan Berk didn't have a junk box. Or maybe I got there too late. :(

He had it at the last show. We had a great time digging through it.

Very nice coins @furryfrog02. I too am really disappointed that the show was cancelled, though I competent understand why. I was really looking forward to seeing several dealers and had hoped to meet some CT members. There is always the summer Whitman show or one of the Northern Virginia shows.

Great consolation choices! I looked at that Sep Sev provincial more than once and considered bidding on it too. I really love the melange of colours, similar to those on this ex x6 Alexandrian drachm.

While we hope there will be a Richmond show in May and Summer Baltimore, I do not expect there to be another show until Fredericksburg in September.

I like it better than Baltimore because the dealers, though fewer, are not as high priced as Baltimore. The July Annandale show has been good in the past but July may be too soon.

I know y’all were really looking forward to the show and are pretty bummed but those are some great pick ups to help cheer you both up. I’ve bought a half dozen times off of vcoins and have always been really pleased - lots of variety in all price ranges with trusted dealers so it’s hard to go wrong there. -d

Richmond is a 2.5hr drive from us so that is probably too far a trek.
Fredricksburg is 1.5hrs so at least a bit more doable.
I wonder, do the higher prices in Baltimore make up for the short distance we have to travel? Or would it be worth the longer drive for better deals?

I follow several sellers on vcoins, including at least one who is a member here, but most of the coins are out of my meager budget. The AE26 with Alexander's head was only $15 so it was perfect for us! I really like the portrait and the table on the reverse is pretty interesting as well.

That is a beautiful coin. I really like the colors and design. It's pretty hefty too!
I'm glad you didn't bid on our Sep... :p
