Hi All- I'm new at this and have been looking to invest in some gold (bullion and coin) I found this St Gaudens which I really like. The coin is rated at MS66 by Numistrust which, from all I have read, has a dubious reputation. The selling party is asking $1950. Any thoughts? Thanks from a newbie!

To justify MS66, any coin must be a screamer.

Especially a Saint. This one ain't.

    Pass.

Even MS64 Saints can (and should) be fabulous coins.

Also... 1910-S is a slightly better date. Almost double the $$$ vs. common date in MS64.

$1600 or so gets a gem MS65 common date Saint. Keep on shoppin' ! Good luck !

Thanks all- what would be a reasonable price to offer for this one?

I just looked on heritage, and assuming it is around ms 62-64 they sell for between $800 and $1,000. It's hard to tell from the picks but the fields look pretty clean. If it is MS and not AU it may go MS64 IMO.

NTC is fine with circulated coins, but a 66?
