I see a bunch of damage. Just not the type you are looking for. just look at the top of ST in TRUST ... ironically along the same circle as the 9
The 9 took a hit and moved it. Damage would of been worn away decades ago. Sorry but that is no mint error of any kind.
Im new to forums so let me know if i jumped in the wrong place, im not trying to break the rules. For me saving pennies turned into collecting recently so im uneducated on all the terms used for errors. I have a 1949 penny so thats why i jumped in on this thread. I dont know if someone tried destroying this penny or if its a real mint error.
Darn it I was on Ebay today looking at some coins and if some sellers didn't have some of this beat up parking lot coins for sale at huge prices like the one here on post #6 . Some folks were even bidding on one of them. I saw lots of nothing but junk being offered for sale. One seller even had some slabbed state quarters claiming them to be struck on experimental planchets for a cheap price of 19.000 and even said he would go down to 9.000 This seller probably knew better because the slabs said nothing about experimental. Another one had a altered cent with a big circle beat into in and quite a few had already bid for it ..This was my first time back in the error coin section in a long time and it was so bad I started feeling sick after looking at about half a page. Ebay seriously needs to get some one to watch over this section . I bet some one would volunteer .
It is a shame what some people will post but it's more of a shame what they sell to unsuspecting buyers.
Machine damage--literally. A counting machine, rolling machine, one of those, they sometimes clip that last digit like that.
