Hello All, I am trying to find out the best way to determine the value of a coin I have. It is a 1976 Bicentennial Silver Dollar struck slightly off center. I have attached front and back side images of the coin. I tried to get the edge of the coin but I was unable to get a clear shot from my camera. Please let me know if there is any other information that I can provide to help with valuing this coin. Thank you for any insight you can provide. Steve
Howdy Steve - Welcome to the Forum !! Sorry to tell you this, but that coin is worth about $1. Even coins that are wayyyyyyyyy off center only sell for a few bucks.
Doug: Sorry to disagree, but coins (like this Ike) struck waaaaayyyyyyy off center are worth more than a few bucks. Ike errors are scarcer than Lincoln cent errors.
Thank you both for the response. I was under the impression that any coin struck off center has the potential to be worth much more than its face value since mis-strikes outside of the mint were so rare. Is there a way for me to find a reputable dealer / appraiser to look at my collection? I have a about a hundred coins from the late 1800's on. If they are worth something I would want to get them insured for their correct value. I am so out of my element when it comes to valuing coins.
Steve, While this wouldn't carry much of a value I would say that it would bring more than face. The reason being is that it isn't off center very much, and in most cases if some of the detail is missing (where is shows alittle more that it is off center) is when the value starts to build. Speedy
