This Coin spoke to me at the last coin show. It is a France 20 Franc from 1934 in uncirculated condition. The art deco design is cool IMHO. Do you have something that is kind-a Art Deco? Post ‘em if you got ‘em.
I saw one of these Art Deco Turkish Republic coins in the Istanbul Museum and had to get one. Turkey 100 Kurush 1934 Silver, 30 mm, 11.88 gm, about the size of a US half dollar 100 Kurush (piastres) was a Turkish Lira or Pound
Greetings, @Collect89 , I’m enjoying your post on French Art Deco coinage. I have a couple of coins and some military medals featuring the Art Deco style. The medals were designed in the twenties and thirties to be awarded to World War One veterans.
Greetings from the Ancient Coins forum, where I usually post. I spent many years collecting British coins and historical medals, the majority of which I sold a few years ago, but I also collected a number of French "art medals" -- most of them in the Art Nouveau style, but I still have one French Art Deco medal: It bears the date 1907 on the reverse, but was actually issued in 1932 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Compagnie Parisienne de Distribution d'Électricité [C.P.D.E.] (the Parisian Electric Distribution Company). The obverse represents a personification of electricity (with the rays of the sun), and the reverse shows a woman bestowing light on the Parisian skyline. The medal was designed by Paul-Marcel Dammann (1885-1939). It's 65 mm. in diameter and weighs 115.1 grams.
This one's really too modern to be considered Art Deco, I suppose, yet it still kind of has that vibe, to me.
Oooo, did someone say deco? I've got loads more, but would need to spend some time resizing a bunch of photos. Maybe I will find the time, but right now I'm working MORE. Hopefully I haven't posted these too recently. A few favorites, properly sized for this forum.
