I managed to get this trio of Postumus billon Ants for $35+tax, around $13 per coin!

    1. Postumus BI/AR Antoninianus, Lyons mint. 259 AD (RIC 53)
OBV: IMP C POSTVMVS PF AVG. Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
REV: PM TRP COS I PP. Postumus standing left, holding globe and spear
    IMG_4329.jpeg
Unfortunately, this one suffers significant post-antique breaks which really take away from it. However, it does allow the viewer a glimpse inside the metal, showing the poor quality of the billon alloy.

    2. Postumus BI/AR Antoninianus, 259-268 AD Lyons mint. (RIC 89)
OBV: IMP C POSTVMVS PF AVG. Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
REV: VICTORIA AVG. Victory walking left holding wreath, captive at foot.
    IMG_4327.jpeg
I LOVE THIS REVERSE! The cartoonish look of Victory is just SO compelling. I have to say that this is probably my new favorite ancient coin.
I call it the Spaghetti Victory

    3. Postumus BI/AR Antoninianus. 268 AD (RIC 318(2))
OBV: IMP C POSTVMVS P F AVG. Radiate, draped and cuirassed bust right.
REV: PAX AVG. Pax standing left with branch and sceptre.

Both sides show a pretty lovely patina/toning, which turns this from a mediocre piece to a decent piece.

    Great coins everyone!

Definitely the most fun part of getting into the ancient collecting club is the research that it takes to ID. Often frustrating as all heck, but certainly rewarding when you finally get there :)
