Hello all I have been practicing my photo skills on some of my coins. It is not easy to get good pics. I have had some help from @TIF and read a lot. I still have a long ways to go but here is a pic I think came out ok . Domitian 88-89 AD. AE As. Obv: IMP CAES DOMIT AVG GERM COS XIIII CENS PER P P, laureate head right Rev: FORTUNAE AVGVSTI S-C, Fortuna standing left holding rudder & cornucopia. 12.91 grams Cohen 128.
Is the color correct or is it a bit blue? Such things are hard to tell without seeing the coin in person.
Nice image, and, as @dougsmit questioned, is the color right? If it's the same in hand than you have a great image!!!
It's really hard to get good pics of bronze coins. I like the OP pic very much, but we all have room for improvement. I used to take decent pics of coins, but I stopped practicing it. Getting back to it now after several weeks of photographing. These are some of todays projects:
I consider the first and fourth best of the bunch but all are on the right track. After all. some beauties are more photogenic than others.
It was hard to avoid glare on the rest of them. They are covered with a thin layer of sand like dirt, probably in combination with wax. So it reflects light. They’re all taking av soak in distilled water now. I think it will be better for the conservation if there’s less dirt on them.
I ruin more photos trying to use too harsh and directional light. Coins shot in soft, indirect light may look boring but many of my coins are a bit boring.
