Has anyone ever heard of "NUMISTIC GRADING STANDARDS"? Anyone know who "Buren" is? This is his entire description. Aside from the fact the his auction will be pulled (grade in the title), he might have better luck selling if it were not so obvious thaqt he has not idea what he is talking about. http://cgi.ebay.com/2008d-MARTIAN-V...goryZ526QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
My Favorite Martian, oops I am showing my age ( for the youngsters, that was a TV show way back when ), but it starred Mr Hand, you might know him from Fast Times at Rigemont High )
yes spock....you forget when you get older... just a little human 101, since you are the only one on CT that never gets older. stainless
According to his slab, it was graded with: "Authentic Grading System In Compliance With N.G.C. Standards" ... ... ...
Thanks for the morning joke! That is a treasure. It looks like he took Martian's photo through the hubble telescope. And when did they start making them things out of gold? I've been giving them to the pizza guy for tips. (Bill Bixby was in it too and I aint old)
Why would I want that lowly MS 67 when I can get this gem....John http://cgi.ebay.com/2008-S-PERFECT-PROOF-MARTIN-VAN-BUREN-PREZ-DOLLAR_W0QQitemZ290258651917QQihZ019QQcategoryZ149688QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
Ahhhh yes.... E-Bay. The "E" stands for "Entertainment". Why waste time with sit-coms ? E-Bay rulez !!!!
I was going through about 20 pounds of wheat cents I had purchased, when I found an AU 1953 with complete doubling of "Liberty" visible to the naked eye. I sent it in to PCGS and it was returned 1953 Lincoln BN AU55. They totally missed the doubling! I'm not sure what do with it, but you can bet I'll call them Monday! Even the so-called "shifty" services banned from Ebay would have caught that. Do they hire disabled blind people or mentally handicapped? They certainly don't use professionals and I do not believe three people looked at it. Nothing against disabled people, as I employed one when I had my store and believe in hiring them, but how the ______, could they miss that? Vegas Vic
I think, and correct me if I am wrong, that you have to point the abnormality out to the TPG service and then pay an extra fee to have it labled as such. If memory serves, someone in another thread (can't remember which one) made that point.
You are correct. Also, PCGS will only mention those varieties/errors that are listed in the Red Book. They will not attribute any others.
