And the fact that it is still technically legal tender. Just like Morgans, you can still technically use them to purchase just like dollar bills, even if it isn't suggested. It ensures that if silver suddenly becomes worthless (won't likely happen), or we go through another terrible depression, it still has value beyond the collectable and silver value.

This is the silver Proof, which is a cut above the run of the mill ASEs that come in tubes. Still the price is up. When I was buying them, they used to be under $50.

If you don't like the issue price, it might be cheaper in the secondary market a few years from now ... or it could be a lot more. You never know what the long term value will be for these coins.

I think the biggest reason is that they are significantly changing the design in 2021. 2020 will be the end of the original design. Check prices for all "final issues" of any coin and you'll see they are significantly higher. Also the "2020" date has a lot to do with it. Also, I don't think the proof coins are grading very well...

Thanks for the feedback guys, I don't know why I thought this would help me decide. Lol. You all have great points. So I guess I'll get a couple, just not as many as I was going to.

I don't know guys. After looking at the pop charts I think I feel compelled to take my chances on getting some MS-70 First strikes for almost half the price. The PR's just never seem to get the intrinsic value most of the time. This is going to sound stupid but I really like how NGC is displaying the coin. [IMG]

I remember back when they used to be under $28. :)

Of course back then the bullion coins were about $8 each.

Just read that while the total mintage so far, when compared to last year, is the roughly the same, recently, purchases have exploded, causing temporary unavailable status. The mint is procuring more silver and will have the presses up and running asap.

Be afraid, be very afraid. Life in these modern times.

Why? The powers that be are always trying to instill fear in us. Every year there's something new that we should be afraid of. What will be next, after Covid-19? I like FDR's statement "The only thing we have to fear is fear itself". Enjoy life now, there's no do-overs.

My point exactly. I'm not afraid no matter how much they pour on the bullflop.
