I agree. More precise definitions might be original color rather than red and not original color rather than brown. They really don't contemplate coins toning without losing luster like this beauty.

Thanks for your comments. There are times I am looking at something toned and I don’t know how to correlate it to the price guides. As you say, they only have three categories and their prices are tiered.

Apparently some people prefer red, and those prices are highest. I prefer RB, and those are medium. Some Browns are lustrous and glossy and deserve a premium, but all BR are lumped together and valued less. Of course, this maps to the lower availability of full reds, rather than buyer preferences.

As for these toned lovelies, there is no real clue.

@Randy Abercrombie , after comparing other graded examples, I think this one is F12 with a small lamination error on the obverse shield. Typical strike, nice color. You like?

I had NO interest in the Jefferson 2020-W Nickel. Well I saw this on eBay for less than $5.00 shipped so why not.

You can say thatt. But the u.s. also cost of tooling, dies, operating, time, and other costs. His profits are probably not as high as one would think.

A gross profit of just under $140/token leaves a lot of room for production costs. I expect the silver rounds to be within 10% of bullion value. I do expect a slight premium for Government Issued Coins.

Artistically, they made a good choice with Gauden's knockoffs.

The artistic aspect is the reason I got this "coin"
His additions make it rather beautiful. And the fact that is large in size and ultra high relief makes it much easier to appreciate.

    I can't argue with it's artistic appeal.

Of course I passed on some Thomas Kinkade prints about thirty years ago because I preferred original oils.
