Yesterday while going thru e-mails I found an interesting article published by NGC Ancients: Mints of the Roman Empire, see the link below. The article was illustrated by photos from the CNG Archives. https://www.ngccoin.com/news/articl...IY09KOGZLUnhLWFYrakdoYkM0dG5TM2ZlZnVmYjkifQ== While reading the article I noticed a coin that looked very familiar, #18, a follis of Maxentius struck at the Ostia Mint. Upon closer examination I realized it was a coin I won from a CNG e-auction back in September of 2017 ! See photo below. After receiving the coin from CNG, I wasn't happy with the quality of the photo. I took photos of the coin that looked more like the real coin, see photos below. I submitted the two photos to Curtis (Curtisimo the Greatish) for his CT thread: GTCTer 2019 (Guess the Owner of This Coin), and after editing my photos used this coin as the 1st of 5 coins in the contest . See photo below.
That is a great looking coin. Both a reverse and a mint that FFIVN and I do not have yet. Thanks for sharing!
Great find and excellent coin, congrats on your virtual plate coin! For me, the surface of the coin looks much nicer in your photo.
