Geeze, I hope they are joking as the currency looks too much like those advertising inserts in magazines. I don't think the public would buy this, do you? https://www.behance.net/gallery/63326431/THE-NEW-US-DOLLAR
I like it. Looks like some fancy European polymer bills. Modern American currency (coins and bills) are SO BORING. Time for a change
I'd rather have bills like those than what we have now. Why don't we bring in some American icons? Bison, eagles, our natural wonders, or other historically important people who aren't dead presidents.
I'm all for the change but I'd like to see the return of the Educational Notes. Now they were beautiful and served a purpose too. Just my opinion.
No, not me, i am sick of us always trying to imitate something European, we have been doing this for years with the Corvette, among other things, trying to make it look like a Ferrari and then there,s the metric system, dont even get me started on that...LOL
Who says its better ? , atleast for me, i like the traditional look the old green back ! but variety is the spice of life so i am sure there are many people like it, just not my cup a tea, just very old school here
If we made them out of a polymer like Canada or Australia for example, we wouldn't have to replace them so often. That is a benefit in my eyes. Hell, even if we didn't change the current ugly designs, just the added longeivity would be worth it IMO.
Do away with the one dollar bill entirely and force the use of a good (not the ones presently circulating) one dollar and/or two dollar coin.
This has been beaten and beaten and beaten but it will never be economically feasible to replace dollar bills with dollar coins. The average lifespan of the dollar bill has been extended to six+ years due to improved and modernized fitness-scanning equipment from the government. In addition, the cost of the metal and heavier weight to transport them has been shown to be a net loss compared to keeping the dollar bill circulating. It may have been feasible to transition over to dollar coins and phase out dollar bills in circa 1985 when metal prices were low enough but that ship has long since sailed.
I completely disagree with this and so does the Fed. Coins make a one trip home when I receive them as change. I haven’t put change in my pocket when leaving the house in many decades. The public at large doesn’t want to use them. When I worked in retail, the majority of purchases were paid electronically. When cash was used, I almost never had anyone have/use coinage.
I find it interesting that many here are against using coinage in place of paper money, and yet you are collectors of coins!
I think that would be kinda of heavy in pocket, paper currency has the advantage of being light weight and you can carry allot in pocket, when you have it that is. ...LOL
When I was working back in the eighties, I used to get a big kick out of getting change back from a $5 dollar bill in SBAs from the vending machines. They didn't weigh that much, lighter than halves.
Back to my original post . . . my thought is that America's currency is strong in the world economy and recognized as having value backed by our economy. If our currency is no longer easily recognized world wide, I think it could destroy that. While the artists concept is nice to look at, it doesn't bring to the users mind the power of the American dollar. As @Penna_Boy said, lets bring back the Educational series, or something similar, whether on currency paper or polymer.
