I just started looking into world coins. I have a couple pounds of modern currency, as a cheap way to see if I like the idea. Some coins are from countries I've not heard of and can't find in the world atlas
Perhaps someone with more wordly experience could advise me.

Suomen Tasavalta 1952....where is that located?
Republik O'sterreich 1962...what part of the globe is that?
What country uses a coin called "Peseta"?
South Arabia 1964. Is that a country or a region?

Besides learning the mottos and language of countries through their coins, you also get a geography lesson!

"Suomen Tasavalta" is Finnish for The Republic of Finland

South Arabia as a general term refers to several regions as currently recognized, in chief the Republic of Yemen; yet it has historically also included Najran, Jizan, and 'Asir which are presently in Saudi Arabia, and Dhofar presently in Oman. The frontiers of South Arabia as generally conceived include the historic peoples speaking the related South Arabian languages as well as dialects of Arabic in South Arabia, and partaking of its traditions and culture, which would considerably overlap recently settled political boundaries.

    Suomen Tasavalta should be Finland.

You mean Yemen was called South Arabia during 1964?

I mean nothing. That is a direct quote from Wiki. However, that sort of sounds like what it is saying.
