I do agree with you Diocletian but if there are more problem area on a Morgan the more of a chance it is a VAM,I know with just the clashes it isn't or unless there's a reproduced letter on the coin from the clash but with other things like doubling it could warrent a VAM anyway I'll leave it up to you Bob and good luck with it regards Harry
I would not have it VAM attributed by PCGS unless I was convinced it was a top 100 or hot 50 coin. You must also check to see if PCGS will even VAM attribute it. Check out Varslab.com. Jeff Baumgart's service will attibute your coin for a nominal fee and you can decide from there.
Just adding my two cents, but what I think Jim was saying was you have quoted above that "every Morgan dollar in existence is either already a VAM... or should be" And of course those being those not yet dicovered or attributed yet. Also, I think the other point Jim was making was that all known die variations (whether normal or not) already have a VAM number assigned to them and as more unknown ones are found then they are listed with their new number (GD had made this same comment to me several months ago... and I didn't understand it then, but I have a better understanding now.) I better leave now.
