Double Die or Doulbe Ear?

    So, would this count as a double die or double ear? or is it just split plating or DDD? Also note the VDB is nearly invisible, but considering the condition of the coin, who knows if its just from wear and tear.

    I think it's DDD. Don't think it's strike doubling judging from the letters in Liberty.

    Possible abrasion doubling, and here are some double ear examples to compare yours to.

    Aren't all those double ear, the estra finger on the 2009, and all those slight slight doubling of whatever around the center of the coin machine doubling anyway???

    Yes. A form of machine doubling, but there are several types and your coin is as I mentioned.
