I picked these bust halves up today as I was just casually checking out a shop. I paid $90 for the pair. The 1835 looks to be F/VF and an O-105? the 1817 might be G-4, then again might not with that wear pattern, and looks to be an O-103a which is a R3. The I in UNITED not having a lower right serif is what gave that one away. Now since I am new to this, these two are my second and third bust halves respectively and the first two I have tried to attribute on my own, please let me know what you think about the grade, and attribution.
I don't have the expertise for the attribution, but I would say you got the better of the deal. I can never find CBH's with nice clean surfaces for under $100. To me, a nice original surface without a lot of dirt or damage is more important than grade.
Good deal. I really like the 1835 it looks like it has nice original surfaces. Good buys. The 1817 is worn and I would say AG, but still a nice plain coin. You did good in my opinion.
It was made when I bought that holed 1814/3 a while back. I picked up a copy of Overton 2nd Ed on the bay for less than $30 with shipping and that was all she wrote. I've just been trying to find halves I can afford since then.
BQ that affordability is always a kicker...nice pick up's for $90 Thanks for sharing these with us..I like em alot! RickieB
