Honestly, the best way to do what you want is not to do it at all. Any kind of cleaning is going to affect the surface of the coin, even making scratches so small that you cant see without magnification.

    I understand.

I gotta tell you though, I am beginner at this coin collecting stuff... I am FARRRR from that level yet where one would look into a coin with a magnifying glass and study it. I really dont have any idea what I would be looking at anyways. :p

I really just want my coins to look shiny, thats all.

I forgot to add that by cleaning your coins it will reduce their value anywhere from 40-50% or more. As the last poster said, if you want shiney coins in your collection, try to buy them that way. A cleaned coin will carry the effects of the cleaning for many years, so if you were to sell them to a dealer or anyone, the cleaning would most likely be noticable with the naked eye, as most of them are.

Distilled water is your best bet. If you want to polish them, silver polish on silver coins, brass polish on brass coins, and copper polish on copper coins. I wouldn't suggest that, though, because it destroys the finish, and that's irreversible. So, you really want to think about that. If you do it, everybody will be able to tell the damage you did to the coins forever.

What kind of coins are you talking about? Do you want to learn? There are a lot of people around here willing to help you learn. Please don't clean them - even common date coins.

If all you care about is "shiny" then perhaps collecting coins isn't the right hobby. Not many people acquire things with the intention of ruining them.

The coins that I wanted to clean, i got for very cheap. 1lb for $10. I was going to clean the ones that already have duplicates and keep the other ones untouched. I dont plan on selling the coins at all in the future since I already have duplicates. I just wanted to show it to my nephews all shiny... My real collection would be untouched of course. :D But I guess cleaning it is a really bad idea huh?.

Don't clean coins please. It would make me sad :(
Besides, if you're still a collector in a year or 2 or 3, you WILL regret cleaning your coins.
