Warning- Counterfeit US Postal Money order Scam This is a C&P: I was contacted by a "broker" who wanted to purchase some coins for his "client". He sent US Postal money orders for the purchase. When the money orders arrived (from the UK) they where made out for a lot more than the purchase price. I get an email from the "broker" asking if we had rec'd payment & letting me know that he would let me know what to do with the extra funds. The money orders looked a little off, so I checked them carefully. They are not on the lost or stolen list on the USPS site. The big give away is they do not have the Ben Franklin watermark or the USPS ink stripe that is imbedded in the real money orders. Please be careful! HJP
We have had that going on for sometime in the Motorcycle field, They want you to send the overpay to their agent, AVOID this ploy and ship only after your bank has cleared it and NEVER give change!! Thieves are getting more bold everyday!!
This is a Nigerian scam that has been gong around in the past few years. Interesting that a US postal money order comes from the UK, but I guess that makes sense as Nigeria is a Commonwealth country as I recall. I would love to get one of these fake money orders. It is a great collectable. I suspect the USPS would be quite interested in it, as it is a forged USPS document, so they might end up with it instead of me.
