Shortynanas unique ( for now ) bill is going to Heritage I believe. A search showed several mismatched serials but not her star. It's comparing apples to oranges but my search showed two 1957B SCs with mismatched serials. First is listed as Superb Gem New 68PPQ.Second as Superb Gem New 67PPQ Nice notes indeed. Minimum bids are $550 USD & $350 USD, estimates are $1000 to $1200 and $600 to $800 respectively. I think they both will exceed the estimates by a wide margin. Care to speculate on the winning bid for these bills? Throw out an estimate on Shortys bill if you'd like. http://currency.ha.com/common/searc...Inventory=1&ic=homepage_search&hdnSearch=true Also on the page is an offer for DB Coopers recovered cash. I can't help but be fascinanted with those tattered twenties.
A Shred Of Evidence Yikes! I just logged on to Heritage and a DB Cooper bill, a fragment actually, sold for $6,572.50.
i dont care to guess at how much the web note will sell for.... i am too disapointed it wont be me bidding lol That web note is truly one he** of a note!!!
I'm going to guess that the the web note goes for more than $20,000 and would not be surprised if it tops $30,000. Now if it tops $50,000, I think I would be a little shocked (but all it would take for that is two peopel with deep pockets who really want the note).
The Auction Shortysnana was kind enough to PM me. The mismatched * note is on Heritage. It's listed in the Long Beach CA auction section. My mistake. I searched for error notes, the unique star is listed under major errors. Part of the bills description: {{By the purest serendipity she noticed that the serial number on both sides of all of the notes were identical...save for one, which contained a star suffix on the left side and a letter suffix on the right side. Further research indicated that this note was printed during the F-L run, but does not bear a serial number in the star range.}}
Don't feel too bad. You probably wouldn't get more than $100 to $200 for it today, unless it was a true one-of-a-kind, never to be seen again error note like this one.
Heritage Auction You may have to log in: http://currency.ha.com/common/view_...=299001&txtSearch=major+errors&hdnSearch=true
I personally will be watching the Auction of this one of a kind note! It will be very interesting to see the numbers on what a deep pocket collector will pay for this great piece! RickieB
