I've never heard of these so when I saw this one, well you can guess but now it's mine. Not costly at all but definitely different.

I have heard of tokens being called funeral tokens but they are not from funeral homes or a foundation. Amazon has lots of them for sale.

It's from The National Foundation of Funeral Service in Evanston, Illinois which was founded in 1945. The goal of the foundation was to “provide a forthright program of education for funeral service and the public,” according to the founder George W. Olinger.

I believe this is from the turn of the century. Possibly from one of the yearly conventions. I have more research to do on this but I thought it was neat and wanted to share it as I've never seen anything like it on CT in the time I've been member.

That’s an interesting piece, @Collecting Nut ! The open fields at the top (above the clouds) and the bottom (the street area) look as though they could have been intended to be engraved with names or dates.

More of a medal than a token. A token was good for something in exchange, it had some kind of negotiable value even if it wasn't stated (such as some of the patriotic Civil War Tokens).

Do you still have this coin? They were minted and distributed by the National Foundation of Funeral Service in the 1970's. The foundation was established in 1945. I purchased the same coin on Ebay last night for $19.99. I would buy any others if available.

First, welcome to CT. I see that you're new so it would be best if you read the rules. Offers to buy or sell are not allowed on open forums. After a few posts you can sell on the buy, sell or trade forum. You can send a pm to another member if you're interested in a coin. Yes I still have it but it's not for sale. Again, welcome to CT.
