Re-searching a bunch of nickels came across this fellow: Lots easier, for me, to look for nickel errors than cent errors. I can see some things without much of a squint. The nickel is about VG or Fine and has that nasty ring in the center back.
The circle on Monticello is coin counter damage, The rest of what you see is MD Machine Doubling. It's a tosser!
Too bad it is not the right kind of doubling. One quick way to determine a DDR?DDO from worthless doubling is that before 1989 the MM will not be doubled. Because the MM were hand punched into the working dies.
Yeah, I pretty much knew it wasn't going to fund my retirement, but it's still fun to look through coins for the first (or second...) time and see what turns up. At least I got to see something a little different than normal. Back to the box of bank-rolled 1985-D Lincolns.
