Hello All, I have a small group of error coins I wanted to post on here and see if anyone has any comments on what type of error, rarity, value, whether it's worth it to be graded, etc. Any comments are greatly appreciated and any discussion is encouraged. I have MANY other errors, but this is just a small assortment to see what people on here think. Now to the coins..... ERROR #1 ERROR #2 ERROR #3 ERROR #4 THANK YOU.
Thank you all for the comments. I would appreciate any details in regards to the type of error, rarity, value, or if I should consider grading these. Again, any comments or discussion is encouraged and appreciated.
@Islander80-83 Thank you for the comment about the Error #1 Quarter piece with the date. Although I know this is a 1999 issued quarter, I do wonder which of the 5 states it would be (Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Georgia, or Connecticut).
Tomorrow morning hopefully after his morning coffee! Believe me Paddyman will be in! You'll have straight answers to most questions. Still thanks for sharing the freaks
Well, let's see how close I can get. #1 Some type of off center strike #2 Partial missing clad layer #3 Some type of broadstrike? #4 Some type of doublestrike?
Wow #1 - 90% - 95% Off-Center Strike. Could be any of the 5 Statehood Quarters issued that year. $25.00 - $30.00 #2 - Defective Planchet - Partial Clad Missing. $30.00 - $40.00 #3 - Broadstruck Kennedy - $30.00 - $40.00 #4 - Double struck with Uniface Reverse - $30.00 - $40.00 Are they worth sending in for Grading and Attribution as Mint Errors? Absolutely! I would and I have. The prices I gave you are guesstimates that I go by with similar mint errors I have purchased over the years.
I'm rushing to get to work this morning so these are quick pictures from my collection - My Kennedy is Double Struck Broadstruck. My Quarter is a Partial or Defective Clad issue. The OP's Quarter seems to be a planchet issue also You can view the slabs better at the NGC Verify website.
@paddyman98 Thank you for all of the information on these pieces, it is very much appreciated. Thank you to everyone else for all of the information provided. I do have MANY other errors that are raw (ungraded) pieces that I believe many of you would like to see. Is it best to post those new items to this post or to create a new post?
A fantastic collection of beautiful Mint errors. Where did you get them? Any of them would be a great addition to a collection but all of them, WOW!!!
@Collecting Nut Thank you for the reply. The examples I showed above are owned by my father and I. We have been buying coins/paper money/etc. for many years. These are just a few of the error coins we have accumulated over those years. I initially posted about these to see what interest there would be for them on here. We have many others that I’m sure the members of this forum would enjoy viewing. If so, I am wondering whether to add them to this continuing thread or if I need to create a whole new one. Any advice is greatly appreciated.
