This was a sub $5 purchase on eBay and it came with an interesting bonus. I do not own many Byzantine coins but when I see what I think is a bargain - and I know it will lead to some enjoyable reading I jump at it. Since this purchase I have spent a good amount of time reading up on the history of Anastasius I so this is already a great acquisition. The little bonus to this is the envelope... Sorry for the photos.. I think my coin photography is actually getting worse. Seeing that I have only been collecting for a couple of years I do not know the name Alex Malloy - but from reading this little bio I am sure he is well known to many of the veteran collectors here: https://www.forumancientcoins.com/numiswiki/view.asp?key=alex g. malloy The auction catalog for this sale is online here: https://nnp.wustl.edu/library/auctionlots?AucCoId=511227&AuctionId=520573 No picture of Lot 992 but here is the listing... Please post any coins of Anastasius I (I am sure there are some excellent examples out there...) or post any interesting envelopes you have acquired unexpectedly. Thanks for looking...

Clavdivs, My 1st auction experience came with Alex Malloy over 30 years ago. I gave him a sizable group of Roman imperial & provincial coins to auction & was happy with the results, however, I waited a long time for the settlement check . After receiving a letter from my lawyer I quickly received my check .
A.C.H., That's an unusually nice example of an Anastasius follis with a handsome solid green patina .
Great buying Clavdivs, can't go wrong at that price. I haven't got any Anastasius, but I do have an ex-Alex Malloy coin. Egypt, Alexandria. Antoninus Pius. A.D. 138-161. AE drachm. Dated year 12=A.D. 148/49. Ex Alex Malloy collection.
