Can you tell me where the mint mark is, the internet says it is found on the reverse at approx 7 o´clock. Maybe i need a more powerfull glass
Thank you. I have been advised that now i have sorted all the denominations that i should now sort them by date and mint mark. Sound advice or not?
Yes you can sort them any way your want. By type, year and mint mark is good. Philadelphia was the first US MINT. Thus they never had a "mint mark" because they didn't need to differentiate themselves from .. at that time, no other US Mint. As other US Mints started they used Mint Marks to identify the location, except for Philadelphia which was mostly with no mint mark (some coins do use a P though). I recommend buying a Redbook, "A Guide Book of United States Coins 2020" for substantial information about US Coins. They have them on amazon and bookstores.
Actually the Mint in Philadelphia, is or was, The US Mint and didn't need designation. The others were branches of the Mint and were designated with a letter.
