I was born in 1984 right down the road from Denver, in Colorado Springs. This cool little error could've been "born" on the same day I was, only about 70 miles away.

    Cool error! Thanks for sharing!

I think Fred meant "Double Strike", but please don't hold any coin that way by your fingers. The oil from the fingerprints can etch itself into the surface of the coin. It's always best to lay the coin on a flat surface and take photos from directly overhead. ~ Chris

Hey furry, talking about errors, what is that double die that you use as your profile picture on?

The obv. die was slightly mis-aligned,
so when the coin was struck, the obv.
looks 'off center' but you'll see the reverse
    die was normal.

"That is definitely MD. Notice how it is very flat and stairlike. A true double die would be LEVEL. Also, notice how it only appears at those 2 spots (and a few other spots including the eagles eye (Which is much more obvious). That is another telltale sign of it being machine doubling."

The reason I corrected you in your comment (above)……….

"flat and shelf-like" instead of "flat and stairlike" and

"doubled die" instead of "double die"

.........that you posted in another thread is because you should not be instructing others when you, yourself, are using incorrect terminology.

    Wouldn't that make sense @MCPark82 ? ~ Chris
